KitchenAid Appliance Repair
KitchenAid was started by the Hobart Manufacturing Company in 1919, a company that was at that time manufacturing electric motors, and in an effort to increase sales, attaching their electric motors to coffee mills and meat grinders creating powered food service equipment. The stand mixer was the brainchild of Herbert Johnson, an engineer working at Hobart Manufacturing Company. Inspired after seeing a baker mixing dough by hand, Herbert believed that there must be a better way, and in 1914, the model "H" mixer was launched for industrial work. By 1917, stand mixers became standard equipment on on all US Navy ships, prompting development to begin on the first residential models.
The first model to carry the name "KitchenAid" was the C-10 model, introduced in 1918, after prototypes had been given to Hobart Company executives wives and one remarked "I don't care what you call it, but its the best kitchen aid I've ever had!" In 1949, KitchenAid expanded its product offerings beyond stand mixers for the first time by adding dishwashers.
In 1985, KitchenAid purchased the Chambers Company to incorporate their range of cookers into their product line, and in 1986, added refrigerators to their product line. By the end of the 1980's, KitchenAid doubled brand awareness having utilized the growing popularity of celebrity chefs, and through its strategic partnership with retailers such as Williams-Sonoma. Williams-Sonoma had carried KitchenAid products since 1959, but through their new marketing strategy and exclusive offerings for specific retailers, the KitchenAid brand was introduced to a wide and growing range of home cooks. KitchenAid, part of the Whirlpool Corporation since 1986, continues to expand its product offerings focusing on creating products that meet the needs of home cooks.
