Fisher & Paykel Appliance Repair

Fisher & Paykel was born when Olive Paykel asked her husband to import a Crosley refrigerator to New Zealand she had seen in a journal. As it turned out, she wasn't the only one who wanted one. The import business quickly grew, and was run by her son, Maurice Paykel and her son-in-law Woolf Fisher. Shortly after they began, the government banned the importation of manufactured products, and Fisher & Paykel responded by establishing a factory in New Zealand, assembling appliances under license from companies such as Kelvinator, and in 1955 purchased cooking range manufacturer H. E. Shacklock Ltd., which had dominated the domestic market in New Zealand.

The founders have always believed that the answer lies in people, and they encouraged a culture that challenged conventional appliance design and production systems. They placed great focus on understanding how people lived and wanted to live, using what they learned to create innovations that truly enhanced people's lives. This spirit led to the creation of plastic refrigerator liners, and the use of foam for insulation, a world's first.

Manufacturing flexibility has been a hallmark of Fisher & Paykel since they began, which allowed them to create small run production of various appliances quickly to meet market demands, first producing a compact dryer, and in 1985, the worlds first washing machine with a brushless direct current motor that could sense and respond to each load, allowing for exception clothes care quickly and quietly.

The company's roots being in refrigeration allowed Fisher & Paykel to continuously improve their design winning them multiple awards and creating several more world's first designs in refrigeration. In 2004, Fisher & Paykel purchased DCS (Dynamic Cooking Systems), bringing a new suite of high-end indoor and outdoor cooking products to New Zealand and Australia. In 2008 Fisher & Paykel became part of the Haier Group, leveraging their scale and capabilities to further expand Fisher & Paykel's global presence.
